In brief
CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) is an immunosuppressant taken by organ transplant recipients so that the immune system is less likely to reject the transplanted organ.
CellCept and transplant rejection
Organ rejection after a transplant is what CellCept is used to prevent. Mycophenolate mofetil, its active ingredient, lowers the activity of the immune system, as described in the CellCept consumer medicine information.
This listing shows mycophenolate mofetil 500 mg. It does not name the manufacturer of the product supplied, so check the label on the pack you receive and confirm with your prescriber or pharmacist that it matches your prescription.
CellCept 500 mg: prices for 10, 20 and 30
All three packs are the same strength. These examples are calculated from the listed prices at the shop’s Australian-dollar rate on 8 October 2026, before delivery or other checkout charges.
| Strength | Pack size | Pack price | Price per unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 mg | 10 | A$120.66 | A$12.07 |
| 500 mg | 20 | A$201.11 | A$10.06 |
| 500 mg | 30 | A$228.40 | A$7.61 |
The unit price in the 20 pack is roughly 16.7% below the 10 pack, and in the 30 pack roughly 36.9% below.
A lower price per unit means a larger upfront payment. Choose only the quantity and strength appropriate to your prescription, and check the expiry date. Prices can change, so confirm the current pack price before ordering.
How CellCept is supplied in Australia
The Australian range comprises 500 mg tablets, 250 mg capsules, an oral suspension of 200 mg/mL and 500 mg vials for intravenous use. A 500 mg strength is offered on this page.
Contraindications
CellCept must not be taken in pregnancy, because of the risk of miscarriage and birth defects, or while breastfeeding. Women who could become pregnant must use two reliable methods of contraception. An allergy to mycophenolate mofetil or mycophenolic acid also excludes it.
Monitoring and everyday precautions
- Infection risk goes up during treatment.
- Skin cancer risk rises too; protective clothing and sunscreen are recommended.
- The leaflet suggests discussing a possible increased risk of cancer with the doctor.
- Live vaccines should be avoided.
- Blood tests are needed at regular intervals.
- Because of many interactions, let all your doctors know about CellCept before any new medicine is started.
Dosing pattern and side effects
Doses are taken twice daily, around 12 hours apart, and tablets or capsules are swallowed whole without chewing or opening them. Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, urinary tract infections and acne are among the common effects. Signs of infection, unexplained bruising or bleeding, anaemia, enlarged lymph nodes or an allergic reaction need prompt medical attention.
